Mark your calendars for the 2026 Advanced ELENA Course on European Asylum and Migration! This year the course will take place on F rida y 20 November to Saturday 21 November in Malaga, Spain. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in European asylum and migration law and to engage with judiciary, practitioners, academics and decision-makers from all over Europe. This year’s course will explore recent jurisprudence and practices of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights, while additionally informing and updating participants on the Pact on Migration and Asylum, the developments under the 1951 Geneva Convention and the Return Regulation. The course will also provide a space to learn and discuss key themes including detention, effective remedies and the rule of law. Please find a draft agenda here . Note that timings and details could change prior to the event and publication of the final agenda. Speakers will be announced on October, 9. Who should attend? The course is open for registration for state officials, lawyers and human rights specialists working in the field of migration and refugee law, EU and national officials. Registration • ELENA Coordinators: €490 euros • NGOs, practitioners, others: €590 euros • Government and international organisation officials: €670 euros Interested participants should register by 2nd November 2026 to secure a place, however registration will close earlier if capacity is reached . Participation to the course on the 20 and 21 November, lunch on both days and coffee breaks as well as the social dinner on Friday 20 November evening. Note that flights and accommodation are not covered and are the responsibility of participants.
