Sobre

AI for the People: Changing What We Value? realiza-se a 12 de outubro de 2026, Auditório do ISEG, em Lisboa.

V. [en]Public Value Fest 2026 explores how Artificial Intelligence is changing what we valueHow is Artificial Intelligence transforming what we value as individuals and as a society? This is the central question of the 5th edition of Public Value Fest, which returns to Lisbon on October 12 and 13, 2026, under the theme “AI for the People: Changing What We Value?”.Organised in partnership by Estrela Borough, HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management, TIAS School for Business and Society and Forum Gemeinwohl e. V., the festival has established itself since 2021 as a meeting point between academia, the public sector, business and civil society. The 2026 edition places Artificial Intelligence at the centre of the debate, looking beyond its technological capabilities to ask what kind of society we want to build with these new tools — and who should decide what is truly valuable for society.“As machines take on tasks and acquire capabilities we once believed were uniquely human, we find ourselves facing a Copernican shift. That is why, at the Public Value Fest, we ask not only what technological progress AI brings, but how our values are shifting, how we negotiate what we value – and, ultimately, what it means to be human in this new reality,” says Timo Meynhardt. Ten voices on the future of AI Artificial Intelligence is reshaping work, education, creativity and decision-making — and raising fundamental questions about privacy, inequality, power, autonomy and the value of human competence. To examine this shift across its many dimensions — from human identity and psychology to the transformation of organisations, public administration and democratic institutions, and on to the labour market, the distribution of wealth, education, health and sustainability — the programme brings ten leading thinkers to Lisbon, from fields such as management, economics, psychology, political science, technology, architecture and urban studies.Confirmed names include:• Timo Meynhardt, one of Europe’s leading voices on Public Value and professor at the Dr. Arend Oetker Chair of Business Psychology and Leadership at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management • Barry Bozeman, one of the US‘ leading voices on Public Value and founder of the Center for Organization Research and Design at Arizona State University• Mariana Mazzucato, best-selling author, founder and director of the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose at University College London• Howard Covington, inaugural chairman of the Alan Turing Institute and director of New Star Asset Management• Arlindo Oliveira, Distinguished Professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico and president of INESC.• Juval Portugali, Head of the Cities and Complexity Research Group at Tel Aviv University• Bernardo Caldas, professor at ISCTE Executive Education and co-founder of Data Science for Social Good Portugal• Álvaro Costa, associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and CEO of TRENMO• Miguel de Castro Neto, associate professor and Dean of NOVA Information Management School• Patrícia Melo, invited professor at ISEG and researcher at EM/UECE, University of Lisbon Honouring contributions to our understanding of the human being The Public Value Fest also recognises exceptional contributions to knowledge and society.
