Autistic and Wonderfully Wired – Hear Us: Autistic Voices Speak Join us for a powerful and inspiring conference delivered by the West Sussex County Council Autism in Schools Project, co-produced with their Autism Ambassadors. These remarkable young people, aged 8–19, represent AiSP schools from across the county and bring authentic lived experience at the heart of this event. The West Sussex Autism Ambassadors are groups of autistic children and young people, alongside their peers who are committed to being autism allies. Together, they have created a series of compelling short films that share, in their own words, how adults can better understand and support them in truly neuroaffirming ways. This unique conference also features an exceptional line-up of neurodivergent speakers, carefully chosen by the ambassadors themselves. Speakers include Paralympic swimmer Jessica-Jane Applegate, Dr Julia Simner (University of Sussex), and frontline professionals Dave Higgins and Cam Parfitt (fire officer and paramedic). Each will share their personal journeys and demonstrate how embracing autistic strengths has enabled them to thrive and succeed in their fields. Open to parent carers, school staff, and all professionals working with autistic children and young people, this event offers a rare opportunity to listen, learn, and be inspired. Attendees will gain invaluable insights into autistic experiences, understand the transformative impact of a strengths-based approach, and discover practical strategies that genuinely support learning, wellbeing, and achievement. Be part of a conversation that centres autistic voices — and helps shape a more inclusive, understanding future.
