We are thrilled to welcome Cody Dahler to Liverpool to hear all about his first book The State of This!: A Thicky Thicky Dumb Dumb's Guide to British Politics. Perfect reading for all those who feel confused and daunted by the current state of the world, comedian and satirist Dahler's hilarious yet informative book explains the burning topics of the day in brilliantly accessible terms. In today's climate of highly polarised, culture-war-fuelled and personality driven politics, The State of This! A Thicky Thicky Dumb Dumb's Guide to British Politics is the book we all need to make sense of the seemingly endless bad decision making by those in power in the UK. In The State of This! Award-winning comedian, satirist and political writer, Cody Dahler explores the most pertinent political head-scratchers affecting us all: Why are people voting for Reform UK?; why did we Brexit?; what is the House of Lords and is everyone in there an arsehole?; why are our rivers full of shit?; what's to stop us becoming like America?; why do our PMs change so often; and why do we use a lettuce to measure their success? Cody's brilliantly witty and fact-filled deep-dives into the history and origins of our current political malaise are as informative as they are fun - and crucially will stop you, the reader, from feeling like a thicky thicky dumb dumb in front of all your mates. Many of the topics covered in the book come directly from Cody's rapidly growing army of over 2 million followers across all platforms, who look to him to make sense of the state of British politics and help them figure out if we're ever going to find a way out of it.
