Across Europe, from Brussels to Paris, London to Helsinki, several cities have laid claim to this title. But what does it mean to have multiple “capitals,” hubs, or epicenters? What does this fragmentation say about the current landscape? Is there a need to better structure and federate these efforts? Beyond competing in a global race, has any city truly succeeded in creating an inclusive model that empowers local organizations and citizens? The FARI Conference 2026 will put these questions to the test, bringing together voices from cities that have tried, succeeded, or are still finding their path.
