This November, one of Galway's most iconic landmarks becomes the stage for an evening unlike any other. Standing since the 14th century, St Nicholas' Collegiate Church will host a night where fashion tells the story of Irish heritage; past, present and future through the lens of sustainability. We're bringing together incredible talent from right here in Galway and from across the island of Ireland. From the voices of The Galway Bay Tones to historian Laura Fitzachary of Seek the Historic and Pamela Heaney IADT lecturer and designer....and that's just to name a few. Expect striking sustainable fashion, live music, poetry and a celebration of Irish creativity, with plenty more still to be revealed. At the heart of the evening is a line-up of incredible designers, carefully curated to showcase what susatinable Irish fashion is all about. From time-honoured craft and heritage cloth to bold, contemporary design, each one is reimagining what fashion can be while working sustainably. Their collections tell the story of where Irish fashion has come from and where it's going next, and we can't wait for you to see them on the runway. Heritage by Design is the final event of ReStyle Galway an Irish Design Week Event sponsored by MyWaste. ReStyle aims to show people the alternatives to fast fashion, teach people new skills and inspire them through the art and craft of sustainable fashion. The textile industry accounts for up to 10% of global greenhouse gas emmissions - but we can be the change that turns the tide on overprodcution. We want people to rediscover that style is not about what you buy but how you do things, slower, with care, with meaning.
