Bologna is a city with a rich cultural and linguistic history, and we are pleased to bring the Polyglot Conference there in 2026. Flags, Language Names and Symbols The Polyglot Conference celebrates our shared love of languages first and foremost. Instead of using national flags on attendee name badges, we ask you to write the name of each language in the language itself, such as español, français, italiano and English. A language cannot always be represented by a single national flag. Some languages are spoken across several countries, while others belong to regional, minority, indigenous or heritage communities without one clear national symbol. The official flags displayed at the conference will be those of our host location: Bologna and Italy. These should remain the focus of official photographs and conference materials. Please do not display additional national, political or group flags or symbols prominently in conference spaces or official group photographs. This helps us keep the focus on languages, our community and our host city.
