Sports Massage Association Conference

Sports Massage Association Conference realiza-se a 13 de novembro de 2026, Gtech Community Stadium, em Brentford.

The SMA Conference brings together an exceptional line-up of speakers for a day designed to challenge your thinking, update your knowledge and give you ideas you can take back into clinical practice. Across the day, we’ll explore some of the subjects that matter most to today’s sports massage and soft tissue therapists. Professor Stuart McGill will draw on 50 years of research into spines, fascia and sports performance, exploring how the body creates strength, speed, stability and resilience. Professor Roger Kerry will turn the focus to clinical decision-making, looking at how we assess, reason and make evidence-informed treatment choices. Professor Cormac Ryan will bring us up to date with modern pain science and what our changing understanding of persistent pain means for the way we communicate with and care for clients. And Jane Wigg will explore new evidence around the lymphatic system, challenging some long-held ideas and considering its relevance to everyday practice. It’s a programme that moves from research to real-world application, with plenty to think about whether you are newly qualified or have been in practice for many years. Alongside the presentations, there will be time to meet other therapists, exchange ideas and catch up with colleagues from across the profession. The day also includes the SMA AGM and Awards presentation . For non-SMA members, or anyone who would prefer not to attend this part of the programme, we will be offering an alternative interactive Posture & Spine Health workshop led by Mikael Porath Peterson, founder and lead chiropractor at Optimal Spine & Sports Dimension. This practical session will explore posture, spinal health, mobility and common neck, back and shoulder tension. Come for the speakers, leave with new knowledge, fresh perspectives and practical ideas for your work — and enjoy a day with others who share an interest in developing high-quality clinical practice.
