Takuya Nakamura werd geboren in Tokio, Japan. In 1990 verhuisde hij naar de Verenigde Staten om te studeren bij de legendarische jazztheoreticus en componist George Russell aan het New England Conservatory of Music. Onder begeleiding van Russell verbeterde Nakamura zijn muzikale vaardigheden en kreeg hij een diep inzicht in jazztheorie en compositie. Deze kennis werd later de basis voor zijn vernieuwende manier van muziek maken.In 1994 verhuisde Nakamura naar New York City, waar hij al snel een bekende naam werd binnen de bruisende jazz- en junglescene. Hij werkte samen met grote artiesten zoals Quincy Jones, David Byrne en Arto Lindsay.Takuya Nakamura blijft de grenzen van muziek verleggen. In zijn recente projecten combineert hij zijn sterke jazzachtergrond met moderne elektronische muziek. Door zijn passie, creativiteit en vermogen om verschillende muziekstijlen te verbinden, wordt hij gezien als een echte pionier in de hedendaagse muziek.
