11 december 1979: The Cure staat in een uitverkochte Effenaar voor de tweede show van hun eerste echte tour, pas een paar weken in de bezetting die later Seventeen Seconds zou maken. Robert Smith komt net terug van een tour als invallende gitarist bij Siouxsie and the Banshees, met een hoofd vol nieuwe ideeën die vooral een kouder, donkerder geluid betekenen. 'A Forest' staat al op de setlist, maanden voordat het nummer verschijnt. Wie erbij is, ziet de inmiddels iconische Robert Smith nog gewoon zonder het kenmerkende haar en make-up. De mythe moet nog beginnen.
