About
The Limit is back. For one night, at least. acontece de 20 a 21 de novembro de 2026, Yellow Arch Studios, em Neepsend.
For a generation of the region's music fans, the Limit wasn't simply somewhere you went at night. It was where you belonged. Now, for the first time in years, we're bringing the spirit of Sheffield's legendary West Street club back to life. And there could hardly be anyone better placed behind the decks than Paul Unwin. He was the Limit's DJ through some of its defining years: the man in the DJ booth with his finger on the pulse, its musical eyes and ears, and the person who helped provide the soundtrack to countless nights beneath West Street. For one night at Yellow Arch Studios, he'll be doing it again. This isn't a tribute night or a greatest-hits disco. We're setting out to recreate something of what it actually felt like to go to the Limit – the records, the people, the atmosphere and that gloriously alternative mix of music that made the club such an important part of Sheffield life. Expect punk and post-punk, new wave and electro, goth, indie and the records that filled the Limit dancefloor as one musical revolution gave way to another. The original club opened in 1978 as punk was exploding, hosting the likes of Siouxsie and the Banshees, The B-52's, The Specials and The Undertones before becoming intimately connected with Sheffield's own electronic revolution through bands including The Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, Clock DVA and Vice Versa. Nearly half a century later, those records still have the ability to transport you straight back down those stairs. The night also marks the beginning of a major new project celebrating the Limit and the people who made it what it was, supported by £146,500 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and building towards the club's 50th anniversary in 2028. Thanks to National Lottery players. Paul is helping steer that project – and we're looking for the people who were actually there. The dancers, drinkers, DJs, musicians, bar staff, punks, posers, goths, New Romantics and assorted West Street night creatures who made the Limit. You'll be able to find out how to share your memories, photographs and memorabilia, record your story or get involved as a volunteer. But that's for the quieter moments. First and foremost, this is a club night. Find some old friends. Put on something black. And come dancing. For one night, we're going back to the Limit.
