Understanding Online Male Subcultures, Radicalization, and Constructive Solutions Workshop Overview The digital landscape surrounding masculinity has evolved rapidly. From wellness influencers and "alpha" self-help coaches to radicalized incel forums and anti-feminist communities, the online umbrella known as the "manosphere" holds immense influence over young men and boys today. This interactive workshop decodes the manosphere by exploring what draws people in, the underlying social and psychological drivers, and its real-world impacts. Rather than approaching the topic solely through criticism, this session creates a grounded, empathetic space to understand these dynamics, spot the warning signs of radicalization, and learn practical strategies to foster healthier narratives around modern masculinity. Key Takeaways & Objectives By participating in this workshop, attendees will: Gain Clarity & Insight: Understand the ecosystem of the manosphere—its jargon, key subcultures, algorithmic pipelines, and messaging strategies. Identify Root Causes: Examine the emotional, social, and cultural vulnerabilities (loneliness, economic insecurity, identity loss) that make these movements compelling. Recognize Warning Signs: Learn how to spot early signs of harmful ideation or radicalization in friends, family, students, or colleagues. Build Actionable Skills: Walk away with concrete strategies, conversation frameworks, and digital literacy tools to counter harmful narratives and mentor young men constructively. Connect with Community: Build a strong network of like-minded peers, educators, allies, and practitioners committed to driving positive change.
