🕯️ INTO THE DARK, INTO THE DANCE 🌀 Contact Improvisation • Ecstatic Dance Saturday 21 November | 6:00–9:30pm 📍 Ostreme Centre, Mumbles, Wales ✨As the winter nights draw in, come gather for an evening of embodied connection, free movement and powerful music.✨ As the darkness sets in, we go deeper- into ourselves, into connection, and into the wisdom of the body. An evening of movement, music and community to soften, let go and embrace the richness of the darker season. 🤲 Come as you are. Follow your curiosity. Find warmth in the dance and connection in the dark. We'll begin with the playful, attentive practice of Contact Improvisation , exploring touch, trust, balance and deep listening. From there, we'll journey into an expansive Ecstatic Dance , guided by DJ Jazzy Be and experienced through a full sound system. A space to soften, let go, awaken your senses and reconnect with yourself and one another. No previous dance experience is needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to move. 🌀 CONTACT IMPROVISATION WITH LUCIA ESCUDER Explore connection through movement, touch and listening. Contact Improvisation is a playful movement practice rooted in reciprocity, balance, trust and spontaneous exploration. Through guided exercises, we'll explore shared weight, shifting balance and the subtle conversation between bodies. How do we meet another person while staying connected to ourselves? How can we find connection without losing our own centre? Drawing on her studies in somatics, Lucia invites us to listen to the body's wisdom, move with curiosity and discover new possibilities for expression. There is no right or wrong way to move, and no experience is necessary. Simply arrive with an open mind and a willingness to explore. ⚡ ECSTATIC DANCE WITH DJ JAZZY BE Feel the music. Follow your body. Find your own rhythm. Ecstatic Dance is a free-form movement journey with no choreography, no steps to learn and no expectations to meet. Through bass-driven rhythms, soulful melodies and hypnotic grooves, DJ Jazzy Be will guide us through an expansive musical landscape, inviting us to move, feel, release and celebrate. 🔊 This time, we're turning up the volume! Usually experienced through silent-disco headphones, this gathering brings us together around a full sound system . No headphones. Just the music, the room, the bass and the collective energy of moving together. Feel the rhythms ripple through your body, surrender to the sounds and let the dance take you wherever you need to go. Our dance space is: 🦶 Barefoot - feel grounded and connected to the earth. 🤫 Non-verbal - let the body communicate. 🌿 Sober - no alcohol or recreational drugs. 📵 Phone-free - step away from the screen and into the present. 🤍 Consent-led and respectful - honour your own boundaries and those of others. We'll close the evening with community soup, giving us time to land, nourish ourselves and connect beyond the dance floor. 🤍 MEET YOUR GUIDES 🌀 Lucia Escuder - Contact Improvisation Facilitator Lucia has been exploring the body and movement since childhood, through gymnastics, sports science, running, yoga and somatics. Her journey has led her towards Contact Improvisation and the transformative possibilities of embodied connection. She sees dance as a practice of coming home to the body, moving through emotions and meeting others with openness and curiosity. Lucia loves creating space for trust, playful exploration and the kind of communication that happens beyond words. 🎧 DJ Jazzy Be - Founder of Ecstatic Dance Wales Jazzy Be returns to the decks with a playful, emotive and heart-nourishing musical journey, weaving together bass-driven rhythms, soulful melodies and hypnotic grooves. As founder and resident DJ of Ecstatic Dance Wales, she has held space at festivals including Buddhafield, Unearthed, Nozstock, Spirit of Gower and Love Trails, as well as within established Ecstatic Dance communities across the UK. Rooted in her hiraeth , the Welsh sense of longing, belonging and connection to place, her sets invite us into both silliness and sacredness, creating space to move, feel and come home to ourselves. For this special gathering, Jazzy brings the dance beyond the headphones and into the full-bodied experience of a powerful sound system. 🖤 A SPACE FOR WINTER WELLBEING As the nights grow darker, let's come together to warm our bones, move our bodies and nourish our sense of belonging. This is an invitation to step out of everyday life and into a space where you can breathe, play, rest, sweat, explore or simply be. No performance. No pressure. No expectation to move in any particular way. Just space to be yourself, connect through movement and share the warmth of community. There is space for you here. 🎒 WHAT TO BRING Comfortable clothes you can move freely in Water to stay hydrated An open mind and a curious spirit 📍 LOCATION & PARKING Ostreme Centre, Mumbles, Wales There is limited parking at the venue, with additional on-street parking and parking along Mumbles seafront. 📸 PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMING A designated photographer will capture a small number of photographs and short videos during the event. They'll be introduced during the opening circle. If you prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please let the photographer or a member of the team know when you arrive. We'll do our best to respect your wishes and help you feel comfortable. 🌿 ACCESSIBILITY & LOW-INCOME TICKETS We believe finances should never be a barrier to belonging. A limited number of supported, low-income tickets are available. If you're experiencing financial difficulty, please reach out to us and we'll do our best to make the event accessible.
