Startup Summit Lisbon 2026: Everything You Need to Know
Two days at Unicorn Factory Lisboa in September, built around founders rather than headline keynotes, with a Guinness World Records pitch marathon attached. Here is what the event is, what it costs, and how to plan for it.
Startup Summit Lisbon 2026: Everything You Need to Know
In short: Startup Summit Lisbon runs on 17 and 18 September 2026 at Unicorn Factory Lisboa in the Beato Innovation District. It expects 2,000 or more founders, 300 or more investors, 150 or more speakers and 200 or more startup booths from 40 or more countries. Passes start at 49 euros, and the event is hosting a Guinness World Records attempt at a 48 hour nonstop pitch marathon.
Lisbon has more than one startup event, and they are not interchangeable. This one is deliberately built at a size where a founder can still work the room.
Startup Summit Lisbon takes place on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 September 2026, at Unicorn Factory Lisboa, Beato Innovation District, Avenida Infante Dom Henrique 141 to 145, 1950-406 Lisboa. The venue's own listing has the programme running from 08:00 on the Thursday through to 23:00 on the Friday.
Tickets and the full pass breakdown are on the official site.
What the event is
Startup Summit is a founder, startup and investor event. The organising team states it has run more than 30 founder events since 2023 across London, Madrid and Berlin, and Lisbon 2026 is its Portuguese edition.
The published expectations for this edition are 2,000 or more founders, 300 or more investors, 150 or more confirmed speakers, 200 or more startup booths, and attendance from 40 or more countries. Programme themes named by the organisers include AI, Web3, climate tech and food tech, alongside workshops, startup safaris and investor office hours.
The distinguishing choice is scale. This is not an event that tries to fill an arena. It is sized so that two days is genuinely enough to cover the floor, sit in on the sessions that matter to you, and still have real conversations.
The Guinness World Records pitch marathon
The most unusual thing on the 2026 programme is a 48 hour nonstop startup pitch marathon, which Guinness World Records has officially approved as a record attempt. The organisers expect close to a thousand founders taking part, pitching either in person in Lisbon or remotely.
Applications are open to pre-seed, seed, early-stage and Series A companies across AI, SaaS, fintech, climate tech, healthtech, cybersecurity, deeptech and enterprise software. Accepted founders are also given access to a fundraising workshop, "Zero Risk Startup: Raise Capital Faster", led by the author and investor Paulo Andrez.
This matters more than it first sounds. At a large conference, stage time is scarce and goes to people who are already known. A pre-seed founder can attend a 70,000 person event for four days and never once present. Here there is an explicit, published route to pitching in front of investors, and it is open to companies at the earliest stage.
What it costs
The pass tiers on the official ticket page are:
| Pass | Price | What it covers | |------|-------|----------------| | General | 49 euros | Full two day access, all stages, expo, startup showcase, workshops, public networking | | Founder | 99 euros | Everything above, plus investor networking sessions, founder-only meetups, a startup directory listing, and pitch slot eligibility | | Startup Booth | 199 euros | An exhibition booth, two passes, investor and partner visibility, pitch slot eligibility | | VIP Experience | 249 euros | Priority check-in, reserved seating, a VIP sunset cruise on the Tagus, premium networking |
Investor access is handled separately, by application and subject to approval.
The site also lists a SPECIAL20 code for 20 percent off, group pricing for teams of three or more, and a TAP Air Portugal partnership with discounted fares. Prices and codes on live event sites move, so confirm the current position at the point of purchase.
For context on why those numbers are notable, a startup pass at Slush in Helsinki is 395 euros and an investor pass is 1,195 euros, both stated on Slush's own site. Startup Summit is priced so that attending is not itself a funding decision.
Getting there and planning the two days
Beato sits on the eastern riverfront, between Santa Apolónia and Parque das Nações. It is a genuine innovation district rather than a conference centre, which is part of the appeal: you are inside the campus where Lisbon's startup ecosystem actually works, not in a hall that hosts a boat show the following week.
A few practical notes:
- Book accommodation early. September is high season in Lisbon and the city has a second large tech event in November. Central Lisbon and Alfama put you within a short ride of Beato.
- Decide your objective before you arrive. Two days at this size is enough to do one thing properly: raise, hire, sell, or learn. Founders who try all four tend to do none of them.
- If you are exhibiting, the booth is the cheap part. At 199 euros the booth costs less than the time you will spend staffing it. Prepare the thirty second version of what you do, and decide who is on the stand while the other person is in sessions.
- Apply early for the pitch marathon if you want a slot. It is capped by the nature of a record attempt, and remote participation is available if travel is the blocker.
Where the photographs come in
An event like this produces the only professional photographs many founders will have of themselves that year. A founder on stage, a team behind a booth, the handshake after a pitch: those images end up in decks, on funding announcements, in press coverage, and on the company's own site long after the event.
The problem is that they usually sit in a shared drive nobody opens. Guests do not know which of four thousand images they appear in, so they never look.
That is the gap face-matched delivery closes. A guest scans a code, takes a selfie, and sees only the frames they are actually in, within seconds. It is the same principle whether the event has two hundred attendees or twenty thousand, and it is worth asking any event you attend whether they are doing it. If you organise events yourself, how to set up photo delivery at your event covers the mechanics, and what to ask a photo delivery vendor covers the questions worth asking first.
The short version
If you are an early-stage founder in or near Portugal, this is a low-cost, high-density two days in the middle of September, with a published route to pitching and an investor room you can actually cross. Weigh it against the rest of the European calendar on the two things that decide it: the total cost of showing up, and whether you would actually get on a stage.
