TIME&SPACE vs PhotoMea: Per-Event Plans or Photo Packages?
TIME&SPACE · Business of Events
PhotoMea and TIME&SPACE both match guests to their event photos from a selfie. The difference is how you pay, where the company sits and what comes with the event.
TIME&SPACE vs PhotoMea: Per-Event Plans or Photo Packages?
In short: PhotoMea and TIME&SPACE do the same core job: guests scan a QR code, take one selfie and receive the photos they appear in. The real differences are commercial. PhotoMea sells photo packages that work across events, with 100 free photos to start. We sell a flat plan per event, with guests, gallery time, analytics and branding set by the plan. If you run many small events, their model may suit you. If you run one event that matters, ours is built around that.
What PhotoMea Is
PhotoMea is an event photo sharing service. Its site describes "AI-powered event photo sharing": guests join through a QR code or join link, introduce themselves with a single selfie, and are matched to photos as they are uploaded. Photos can be uploaded before, during or after the event, guests are notified when new photos of them arrive, and teams can be invited to upload. Checked on 20 October 2026, the site lists weddings, corporate events, conferences, festivals, graduations and sports events, and says the product is also available as a mobile app.
Where TIME&SPACE Is Stronger
One plan per event, with the limits stated. STARTER is 188 EUR for 500 guests and 1,500 photos. ADVANCED is 488 EUR for 2,000 guests and 5,000 photos, with Event Branding. PRO is 888 EUR for up to 15,000 guests and unlimited photos, with Event Branding. You know what the event costs before the first photo is uploaded, however many frames the photographers shoot.
Analytics and unlimited team members on every plan. Not an upgrade, not an add-on.
Explicit consent before the selfie. Guests tick an unticked box before any face matching starts. Our retention is published in our privacy policy: selfie image deleted after 30 days, face index deleted one year after the photo was uploaded.
A company based in Lisbon, working in English, Portuguese and Spanish, hosted in the EU.
We can supply the crews. Our agency arm shoots the event if you want it to. Their site describes software only.
One public page per event, for the event itself.
Where PhotoMea Is Stronger
A free start. Every account begins with 100 free photos, no credit card. We have no free tier and no trial, and we say so plainly.
Packages that follow you across events. Their packages are 500, 2,000 and 5,000 photos, bought once with no subscription, and by their own FAQ the photos you buy never expire and carry across events. If you run many small events, that is a better fit than paying per event. Their pricing page, as we read it on 20 October 2026, does not show the package prices, so we cannot compare them to ours in euros. Check it before deciding.
Longer storage. They state that photos are stored for 2 years. Our galleries last 365 days.
Guests can contribute. Their site says each guest can upload up to 100 photos free, and that these do not use your allowance.
More languages and a mobile app. They list six interface languages and say guests get 20 languages. We work in three.

GDPR: What Changes When the Vendor Is Outside the EU
Face matching processes biometric data, which GDPR treats as a special category (Article 9) that normally needs the person's explicit consent. Three things follow for an organiser whose guests are in the EU, and none of them depends on which vendor you pick:
- The rules follow your guests, not the vendor's address. GDPR applies to processing aimed at people in the EU even when the company is based elsewhere (Article 3(2)).
- Moving the data out of the EU needs a legal mechanism such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses (Chapter V). If the vendor will not say where the data sits, you cannot check this.
- You are normally the controller, the vendor is your processor. That means a data processing agreement, a known storage location, a stated retention period and an answer to who handles a deletion request.
What PhotoMea's own documents say, read on 20 October 2026. PhotoMea's data controller is VIONTA MANAGEMENT CONSULTING FZCO, in Dubai. Its privacy policy says hosting, photo storage and face analysis are in the EU, and that face vectors from event photos are kept for six months after the event date. So the company sits outside the EU while the data stays inside it, which is a different position from the others on this list. Its consent wording sits in a separate biometric data policy that we did not read.
What to ask PhotoMea before you buy: where the face data is stored, for how long, under which transfer mechanism, whether they will sign a data processing agreement, whether they have an EU representative, and how a guest withdraws consent.
On our side: TIME&SPACE is based in Portugal, stores and processes biometric data only in the EU, gets explicit tick-box consent before the selfie, deletes selfie data after 30 days and the face index one year after the photo is uploaded, and provides a data processing agreement. The detail is in our privacy policy. This is general information, not legal advice; your own data protection officer or lawyer should decide.
Which to Choose
PhotoMea if you run many events of varied size, want to start free, or want photos you buy to carry over from one event to the next.
TIME&SPACE if you have one event with a real budget behind it, want the cost fixed per event, want a European company holding the consent and the data, or want the same team to shoot and deliver.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much does PhotoMea cost?
As of 20 October 2026 their site says every account starts with 100 free photos and that packages of 500, 2,000 and 5,000 photos are bought once with no subscription. The pricing page we read did not list package prices. Ours are 188, 488 and 888 EUR per event.

Yes. Their homepage describes matching guests to their photos from a single selfie, and says matching starts only after the guest gives consent.
Q: Where does PhotoMea store data?
Their privacy policy states that application hosting, photo storage and face analysis are carried out in the European Union, and names a company in Dubai as controller for accounts and face matching. It states event-photo face vectors are kept for 6 months after the event date. Ours are kept for one year after upload, published in our privacy policy.
Q: Is there a free alternative to TIME&SPACE?
PhotoMea starts with 100 free photos. We have no free tier. If your event is small, start there.
