Pixieset is a toolkit for photographers who deliver galleries to clients. TIME&SPACE delivers an event's photos to every guest by face match. Here is where each one fits.

TIME&SPACE vs Pixieset: Client Galleries or Event Delivery?

In short: Pixieset is built for the photographer's business: client galleries, a portfolio website, bookings, an online store. TIME&SPACE is built for the event: thousands of photos, hundreds of guests, and each guest finding their own from one selfie. If you are a photographer delivering a gallery to one client, Pixieset is very likely the better and cheaper fit. If you are an organiser who wants every guest to receive their own photos, that is what we do.

What Pixieset Is

Pixieset is a platform for photographers. Its site lists a Client Gallery for sharing, delivering, proofing and selling photos, a portfolio Website, a Studio Manager for bookings and payments, a Store for prints and downloads, a mobile gallery app and an AI-assisted photo editor. Checked on 20 October 2026, the Client Gallery page describes branded email invitations, password protection, download PINs, watermarks, client favourites and comments, and download tracking per gallery.

Their site does not describe face recognition. We searched the homepage, the pricing page, the Client Gallery page and the privacy policy on 20 October 2026 for "face recognition", "facial recognition", "face search" and "selfie", and found none of them. Their only mention of AI is on the Photo Editor product, for editing and culling. We cannot see inside the product, so we do not assert anything beyond what their pages say.

Where TIME&SPACE Is Stronger

Every guest gets their own photos. A guest takes one selfie and sees only the photos they appear in. No scrolling through thousands of frames, no link passed around, no photographer sorting by hand. Access is by QR code and needs no app download.

Built for many people at one event. Plans are per event: STARTER 188 EUR (500 guests, 1,500 photos), ADVANCED 488 EUR (2,000 guests, 5,000 photos) and PRO 888 EUR (up to 15,000 guests, unlimited photos).

Everything is included in the event price. Galleries stay live for 365 days on every plan, analytics are on every plan, team members are unlimited, and ADVANCED and PRO add Event Branding. Every event gets one public page and an embed widget.

Biometric data is handled in the open. Guests tick an explicit consent box before the selfie. Selfie images are deleted after 30 days and the face index one year after the photo was uploaded, all stated in our privacy policy. Hosting is in the EU.

We can supply the crews. Our agency arm can shoot the event. Pixieset is software for photographers you already have.

Local to Lisbon, in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Where Pixieset Is Stronger

Price, for what a photographer needs. Their Client Gallery plans are listed in dollars: a Free plan at 3 GB, then Basic at $8 a month billed annually, Plus at $16, Pro at $24 and Ultimate at $40. Annual Pro is about $288 a year for 1 TB. Our cheapest event plan is 188 EUR for a single event.

A real free plan. They have one, with unlimited galleries. We have no free tier and no trial.

The whole photography business in one place. Portfolio website, bookings, payments, a store with automatic fulfilment, coupons and gift cards, and proofing with client favourites. We do none of that.

A scale and track record we do not claim. They state over 1 million users on their homepage. That is their figure, and we cannot check it.

GDPR: What Changes When the Vendor Is Outside the EU

Face matching processes biometric data, which GDPR treats as a special category (Article 9) that normally needs the person's explicit consent. Three things follow for an organiser whose guests are in the EU, and none of them depends on which vendor you pick:

  • The rules follow your guests, not the vendor's address. GDPR applies to processing aimed at people in the EU even when the company is based elsewhere (Article 3(2)).
  • Moving the data out of the EU needs a legal mechanism such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses (Chapter V). If the vendor will not say where the data sits, you cannot check this.
  • You are normally the controller, the vendor is your processor. That means a data processing agreement, a known storage location, a stated retention period and an answer to who handles a deletion request.

What Pixieset's own documents say, read on 20 October 2026. Pixieset's site does not describe face recognition, so the biometric question does not arise from what we read. Its privacy policy names no country or region for data storage and says data is kept while the account is active. If you use it to deliver event photos to people in the EU, ordinary personal-data rules still apply to those photos and to the guests' details.

What to ask Pixieset before you buy: where the face data is stored, for how long, under which transfer mechanism, whether they will sign a data processing agreement, whether they have an EU representative, and how a guest withdraws consent.

On our side: TIME&SPACE is based in Portugal, stores and processes biometric data only in the EU, gets explicit tick-box consent before the selfie, deletes selfie data after 30 days and the face index one year after the photo is uploaded, and provides a data processing agreement. The detail is in our privacy policy. This is general information, not legal advice; your own data protection officer or lawyer should decide.

Which to Choose

Pixieset: you are a photographer delivering galleries to individual clients and want a website, bookings and a store alongside. This is not a job we do.

TIME&SPACE: you are an organiser of a conference, festival, gala or corporate event, and the problem is that hundreds of guests will never find themselves in thousands of photos.

Both: a photographer can keep Pixieset for their own client work and still use us when an organiser wants face-matched delivery for the whole event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much does Pixieset cost?

On 20 October 2026 their Client Gallery plans were listed as Free at $0 with 3 GB, Basic at $8 a month billed annually ($10 monthly), Plus at $16 ($20), Pro at $24 ($30) and Ultimate at $40 ($50). Their pricing page shows dollar signs and does not name the currency. Ours is 188, 488 and 888 EUR per event. See our pricing.

Q: Does Pixieset have face recognition?

Their public pages do not describe it. We searched their homepage, pricing, Client Gallery page and privacy policy on 20 October 2026 and found no mention of face recognition, face search or selfies. If it matters to you, ask them directly rather than trusting any comparison page, this one included.

Q: Is there a cheaper alternative to TIME&SPACE?

For a photographer delivering to one client, yes, and Pixieset is one. We are worth the money when an organiser needs every guest to receive their own photos from a large event.

Q: Can I use both?

Yes. They do different jobs: one runs a photographer's business, the other delivers an event's photos to its guests.
