How Many Photos Can a Guest Download in a Day? The Limit Explained
TIME&SPACE · Stories from the Field
There is exactly one download limit on TIME&SPACE: 100 photos a day for anyone who is not running the event. Photos your own face scan matched do not count at all.
How Many Photos Can a Guest Download in a Day? The Limit Explained
In short: Anyone who is not running the event can download up to 100 photos a day from a gallery. Browsing and viewing cost nothing at all, only an actual download counts. The moment your own face scan matches a photo, that photo stops counting against the limit, for good.
Almost nobody ever sees this limit. It exists for one reason: to stop a gallery being scraped in bulk by a script, not to get in the way of a guest saving their own photos. Here is exactly how it works, because "exactly how it works" is a one-sentence answer, not a table of exceptions.
One limit, not several
There used to be a handful of different numbers depending on who you were and what kind of photo you were downloading. That was quietly dropped on purpose. A policy nobody can hold in their head is not a policy anyone can explain when a guest asks, so it was replaced with one rule: 100 photos a day for anyone who does not run the event. Nothing else.
What counts, and what does not
Scrolling a gallery, opening a photo full-screen, swiping through a lightbox: none of it touches the limit. Those actions load a photo to look at it, and looking is free. Only an actual download request counts, which means a guest saving a photo to their phone. On iPhone that is one request per press-and-hold save. On Android and desktop it is one request per download. Either way, the count only moves when a photo actually leaves the gallery for someone's device.
Your own matched photos are unlimited
If you scanned your face at the event and TIME&SPACE matched you to a photo, that photo is yours to download as many times as you like. It does not touch the 100, and it never has a smaller allowance hiding behind it. The check is done photo by photo, against the actual scan that found it, so there is no way to borrow someone else's unlimited allowance: a session only unlocks the photos it already matched for that one event.
Why it is counted per person, not per device or per address
The 100 is tied to you, not to your Wi-Fi. A guestId is created in your browser the first time you visit, and if you are signed in, your account does the same job. Either one travels with you, which matters because a hotel or a festival venue puts hundreds of guests behind a single shared address. Counting by address would hand an entire building one shared allowance of 100, which would run out for everyone the moment a handful of guests started downloading at once. Counting per person means your 100 is actually yours.
Running the event changes this entirely. Owners, team members, and photographers are exempt from the limit altogether, because an organiser downloading their own event's gallery in bulk is not the behaviour this exists to stop. Being signed in on its own is not what exempts you, only genuinely running the event does.
If you hit it
The honest answer is almost nobody does. A guest who scans, finds their photos, and saves the ones they want is nowhere near 100 downloads in a day. If you somehow do reach it, the fix is not to make a new account: an account gets the same 100, so that would change nothing. The real answer is the one that actually works, which is opening the link from your photo delivery email and downloading your own matched photos, since those were never counted in the first place.
